Little was known about the beginning of 4 Fingers although there were some bloggers who said that it is a famous Korean fried chicken chain originated from America and the franchise was brought to Singapore by 4 friends. I would supposed these buddies are Singaporeans?

If you have read the many reviews out there, you should know that 4 Fingers have been criticised for creating the false impression of a long queue by deploying only one counter staff to serve. Indeed, it was the same situation at their Tampines 1 outlet we have visited. As we were not familiar with the menu, we took quite a while to decide our orders. But the wait was not yet over; we were given a food pager, a circular device that will beep you to collect your purchase.

Contrary to popular demand for their chicken drumstick, we have instead ordered the chicken burger and chicken chop.  The food was served in the boot camp style mess tin; now we could roughly guess that the 4 founders may be Singaporean males and army buddies.

We sort of regreted our choices because the same crispy chicken chop was used for the burger too.  Fortunately, the meat was quite juicy and without much grease!  The accompanied fries was a let down though.  We would have expected the sprinkled seaweed having more effect on our taste bud and their packet chilli sauce also failed to excite.  Their kimchi was an interesting substitute to the coleslaw but the taste was only passable and quite pricey for such a small cup.

However, the surprise winner was their Korean Honey Tea.  You have to pay another 50 cents to enjoy the upgrade of two available options – the honey yuzo tea and the honey yuzo with aloe tea – both equally refreshing and capable to quench the typical thirst after an all-fried meal.

The experience at 4 Fingers was not finger licking good.  However, we would not mind joining unaware friends for another outing at the restaurant.  Nowadays, it is just so cool to introduce others a new fast food chain that sell crispy chicken.
