2 cups of rice (wash and rinse at least twice with tap water)
1/2 big pot of water OR around 2 litres of water
1.2 kilograms of Japanese Sweet Potatoes (remove skins and cut into small pieces)
1/2 flat teaspoon of salt

1) Wash the rice
2) Cook the rice and water in a pot over high heat.
3) Once boiling, add in the sweet potatoes and continue to cook over high heat for about 5 minutes.
4) Turn to medium heat and cook for another 15 to 20 minutes until the sweet potatoes are soften. Do ensure regular stirring during this process. This would avoid the grains or sweet potatoes from overcooked and stuck at the bottom of the pot.
5) Add in salt and stir well. If the porridge is too thick, add in some hot water and stir to your desired thickness.
6) Remove from heat and ready to serve.
