UPDATES ON 12 MAY 2016: Unfortunately, in spite of the quality bowl of laksa and strong media featurette to “Save the shop”, Laksania has closed this Bugis+ outlet.  But you can still find them in JEM, which is their only outlet standing.  We hope for their business success!

Asked any Singaporean whether they will pay more than S$5 for a bowl of Laksa and you will mostly get a firmed “NO”.  Naturally, when we saw the S$6.50 Singapore Laksa on the menu of Laksania, we have arrogantly ridiculed their lack of business sense.  Anyway, for curiosity sake, we have bought the deal offered at Groupon, where we paid S$8 for S$16 worth of Laksa, drinks and desserts at Laksania.

Laksania currently has outlet in Nex mall, Bugis+, and East Coast.  In this review, we had visited their Bugis+ outlet, which looks like an open concept cafeteria.  Now the simplistic restaurant design do not seem to justify the price of the menu.  However, the service staffs were diligent enough in serving us.

We ordered their “must try” Singapore Laksa, Laksa Goreng, and Chicken Satays.  When the cuisines arrived in merely 10 minutes, we were immediately impressed.  The bowl of Singapore Laksa and laksa Goreng were larger than those found in the Hawker.  Laksania’s thick coconut laksa broth seriously wakened our palates!  The laksa flavour was strong but with the appropriate spiciness.  The broth has such wonderful pungent that makes the Laksa Goreng tasted equally delactable even with its absence.  We were also glad that the other ingredients, such as the taupok, prawns, and fishcake were so fresh.  They also have plenty of cockles in their laksa dishes!

As for the Chicken Satay, even though a plate has only three pathetic sticks, each of their size were probably 3 usual satay combined.  These obviously tasted like a good chicken rendang.  It was a pity that the laksa sauce that comes with it did nothing.  But the satays still great on their own.

We could not vouch that Laksania offered the best laksa in Singapore because we had literally felt the pain, not by the spiciness but the price tag of the laksa.  Nevertheless, we are sure that the next time we crave for a bowl of laksa, we will not be heading to Katong; it is the Singapore Laksa at Laksania.
